MIAMI - Congressman David Rivera is expected to make an announcement on his proposed Studying Towards Adjusted Residency Status (STARS) Act.
The bill would allow young, undocumented immigrants to adjust their residency status if they can reach a degree from an accredited four year institution of higher education and meet certain criteria.
Rivera will be joined by Daniela and Dayana Pelaez at North Miami Senior High School for the announcement. Daniela Pelaez is the school's valedictorian but faced deportation earlier this year. She gained the support of several high powered politicians and made a trip to Washington, D.C. to fight to stay in the country.
