No life vests on boaters in fatal capsize

1 dead, 3 survive accident

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The four men on a boat that capsized were not wearing life vests, authorities say.

Authorities on Sunday identified the boater who died Saturday night after the boat capsized off the shore of Miami Beach. The body of 48-year-old Ramon Uloa Rodriguez was found in the water near Collins Avenue and 63rd Street after an extensive search, officials said.

Alain Blanc, 37, Oriol Chil, 42, and Michael Morejon, 32, swam to shore after the fatal accident.

Investigators said they do not believe alcohol contributed to the accident.

Multiple agencies, including the U.S Coast Guard, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Miami Beach Fire Rescue, and Florida Fish and Wildlife helped with the search effort for Rodriguez.
