One killed after car crashes into building at Miami Dade College

Driver will face charges

MIAMIOne person was killed early Tuesday when a car crashed into a building at Miami Dade College.

The car crashed into the Carrie P. Meek Center at Northwest 7th Avenue and 63rd Street. Surveillance video shows the car slam into the building, then burst into flames.

"Once I heard the hit, that's when I come around the corner and saw the accident," said Julius Miller Sr., a security guard.

Miller helped three others get out of the car.

"The passenger, the one that was deceased, we couldn't get him out," he said. "If it was me, I'd want someone to help me, so that's what I did."

One person was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon. The two others were in stable condition.

Police said the driver checked himself into Jackson Memorial Hospital. He'll be arrested after he is released.

The car was reported stolen on August 18.

Classes will resume at MDC beginning at 5 p.m.
