CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Coral Gables police are asking for the public's assistance in finding five men who broke into a Verizon store on Jan. 18 and stole several tablet computers and cell phones.
The store, located on Ponce De Leon Blvd north of Miracle Mile, captured the early morning burglary from various surveillance cameras that are mounted inside and outside.
In the video, one man is shown pounding on the glass front door with a hammer. He then kicks it several times, compromising the door's frame, allowing them to lift the bottom half up like a sheet and squeeze underneath.
In total, the video shows five men entering the store and taking phones from their displays, along with tablet computers.
Despite wearing hoodies and gloves, the men wore some articles of distinguishable clothing. One man wore highlighter-yellow colored shoes.
The same men may also be responsible for an attempted burglary that took place on Jan. 3 at the AT&T dealer Intelicom Wireless Center nearby.
Workers told Local 10's Christina Vazquez a Coral Gables Police Detective mentioned to them the same men may be responsible. Police have yet to confirm.
In the Jan. 3rd incident, two masked men entered the store by breaking through the front door. According to a police report, they didn't steal anything in the store.
Workers said one reason the men may have not stolen anything is because unlike Verizon, they don't keep their phones on display overnight.
In both cases, witnesses said they saw the men leaving in a black pickup truck that may have been a Dodge Ram.
If you have any information, you are asked to call Coral Gables police.
