Temperatures forecast to dip into 40s this weekend

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – South Floridians are preparing for some chilly temperatures this weekend.

Forecasters expect the temperatures to dip into the 40s and 50s this weekend. With the wind, temperatures could feel like they're in the 30s in some places!

A wind chill advisory has been issued for western Miami-Dade and Broward counties until 8 a.m. Saturday.

The overnight low is expected to be about 15 degrees below normal, but not a record. Our record low tomorrow is 39 degrees and was set back in 1973!

Broward County officials declared a cold weather emergency from 6:30 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, and from 6:30 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday.

County officials advised the homeless to report to the following locations by 6:30 p.m. Friday for transportation or access to special cold night shelters:

  • Pompano Beach City Hall, 100 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach
  • The Salvation Army of Broward County, 1445 W. Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale
  • Broward Outreach Center, 2056 Scott Street, Hollywood
