"We are very excited to share this story, which is based on hope, determination and the belief that with hard work and passion, our dreams can become our reality," the Estefans said in a statement.

The musical, which will be executive produced by Bernie Yuman, "will be set in a way that tells the Estefans' riveting life story detailing their journey all the way from Cuba to superstardom," according to Playbill.com

The Estefans, who were both born in Cuba, came to fame with their Latin pop group, "Miami Sound Machine."  They won seven Grammy Awards and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide with hits like "Conga" and "The Rhythm Is Going To Get You."

"Sharing our life story through music will give us a new opportunity to honor our roots and, hopefully, to be able to inspire generations to come," said the Estefans.

The couple have strong ties to South Florida where they reside.  They launched the Bongos Cuban Cafe chain, are part owners of the MIami Dolphins, and Emilio Estefan continues to produce music and has helped build the careers of artists like Shakira, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, and Marc Anthony.

Yuman produced and managed the Siegfried & Roy show in Las Vegas.  The creative team will be announced soon.
