Man accused of stealing 11 packets of salmon at Pompano Beach Publix

Steven Foster, 37, threatens employee with pen, deputies say

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man from Cooper City was arrested Wednesday after stealing 11 packets of salmon from a Publix in Pompano Beach, Broward sheriff's deputies said.

According to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report, an employee at the Publix at 2511 E. Atlantic Blvd. saw Steven Foster, 37, placed the packets of Salmon on top of his backpack and notified the store's loss prevention officer.

The officer followed Foster to an aisle and claims she saw him place the packets of salmon inside his backpack.

Deputies said both employees tried to stop Foster who attempted to get into a getaway vehicle that was parked near the store's garage.

According to the report, Foster fell down several times while struggling with one of the employees and told him, "I got something for you to stab you with," while reaching behind his back.

Deputies said Foster pulled out a pen and attempted to stab the employee with it.

The stolen salmon was valued at $164.67.

Foster faces multiple charges including felony battery and grand theft.

Authorities said he has previously been arrested on grand theft charges.
