Tyrone Bivins arrested in ex-girlfriend's shooting death

Man arrested on charge of second-degree murder

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A man accused in the death of his ex-girlfriend on a Miami Gardens street was arrested Wednesday, months after her death.

Miami Gardens police told Local 10 News that Tyrone Bivins, 23, was taken into custody early Wednesday with the help of U.S. marshals and other law enforcement agencies.

Police said Bivins shot and killed Jessula Goulbourne, 22, on April 12 in the area of Northwest 207th Street and 39th Avenue.

"He left her on the street like a dog, like an animal," Goulbourne's grandmother, Brenda Delvin, said. "He shot her in the face and left her for dead."

Delvin said her daughter was dating Bivins on and off for five years until Goulborne found out that he had a child with another woman.

"I was like, 'No, Jessula, you gotta do better than that,'" Delvin said. "I didn't like him. I saw the friends he hung around with. I  didn't approve of it."

Bivins was also arrested in November 2011 in a shooting at a Miami Gardens park that injured four people, including an 11-year-old boy. He was charged with four counts of attempted murder. The charges were later dropped.

"I know he took my daughter's life," Delvin said.

Bivins faces one count of second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
