.40 caliber Springfield handgun, 9 mm Walther semi-automatic handgun found

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested Thursday for pointing a handgun at a driver he said cut him off on Sawgrass Expressway.

The victims in the case said they were at a traffic light on State Road 441 at 12:30 p.m. Thursday when they tried to merge to the left onto Sawgrass Expressway after the light turned green.

One of the victims said the driver of a white Nissan Altima directed his middle finger at the victims' car and then drove extremely close behind it. The victims said the Altima then drove up to the left side of their car, and the driver lifted up a black handgun and pointed it at the driver.

Both victims said they were afraid for their lives, with one saying, "I was waiting to hear the shot."

The victims caught the incident on video. They dropped back in traffic and called police, following the Altima until officers arrived.

Alan Preisler was identified as the driver with the gun. He was found at his home in Pompano Beach. Police said he asked them, "Are you guys here because of the thing today on the highway?"

Preisler was found with a 9 mm Walther semi-automatic handgun with a full magazine and a round in the chamber. He was taken to the Deerfield Beach police station and confessed to pointing a gun at the victims, saying they had cut him off, according to police.

He took an officer back to his apartment to retrieve the .40 caliber Springfield handgun he said he used in the incident. He was then booked into the main county jail.
