Man arrested for trespassing at Miami Carol City Senior High School, police say

2 students taken into custody on unrelated matter

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Three schools, including Miami Carol City Senior High, were put on lockdown for more than an hour Friday morning as two different situations unfolded on campus.

Police said they first received  an anonymous tip about a weapon at school. While investigating and searching book bags, police detained two students.

Miami-Dade police said the students were exchanging book bags on campus and ran from officers when they tried to question them.

According to police, the boys were found in a nearby neighborhood. No weapons were found in the book bags.

During the investigation, police said they received a report about a suspicious man on campus.

"Being on lock down -- it was very scary because I was the bathroom, so it was very scary for me," one student, Breana Hall, said.

"I was in the automotive class, and next thing you know you see two helicopters flying around and you just see cops," another student, Mathew Ramirez, said.

According to Miami-Dade Public Schools police, the man ran across the school's football field, where he was tackled and handcuffed.

He is now facing trespassing charges.
