Police: Man attempted to force teen into his vehicle

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man attempted to abduct a 17-year-old girl on her way to school, Miami-Dade police said.

The incident happened around 6:45 a.m. Monday in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 87th Street.

Investigators said the teen was walking to school when the man grabbed her and attempted to force her into his vehicle.

The teen was able to escape his grasp, and the man fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to police.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the man, described by police as a 35- to 40-year-old black man who is about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 180 pounds with a muscular build, and has low-cut hair, brown eyes and a beard.

Police said the man was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt with dark-colored jeans. The man's vehicle was described as an older model four-door dark vehicle with a spoiler on the trunk.

Miami-Dade police said residents must remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings.
