Man barricaded inside northwest Miami-Dade County home surrenders

Police say man fired shots into air, went back inside home

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who barricaded himself inside a northwest Miami-Dade County home surrendered peacefully Thursday morning after police used tear gas to drive him out.

Miami-Dade police said the man, identified as Darrell Hanna, was barricaded inside a home at 11015 NW 17th Ave.

Police said Hanna left his house with a gun, crossed the street to a neighboring market, fired shots into the air and then returned to his home.

Initially, police thought there were hostages inside, but it turned out he was the only one there.

Police said Hanna threatened to shoot the officers.

This is the second police standoff in northwest Miami-Dade County in three days.

Franklin Bain was arrested Tuesday after police said he barricaded himself inside his Miami Gardens home and held his daughter against her will.
