MARATHON, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after breaking into a pawn shop overnight in Marathon, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported.

Stewart cut his arm in the process, leaving a blood trail at the scene.

According to deputies, Stewart then called another man, telling him that he was going to sell the stolen jewelry in Miami, and that he had left the door to the shop open in case the  man wanted to go inside and steal items for himself.

The man, who deputies said knows an employee at the pawn shop, called authorities instead.

Stewart was found at his home with a large cut on his arm. Deputies said they also found a bag of stolen jewelry in his room, along with bloody clothing.

Stewart was taken to a hospital for treatment for his arm, and was then taken into custody.

He is charged with criminal mischief, burglary and grand theft.
