The shooting was reported about 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Southwest Tenth Street.
Deputies said a woman received a visit from her ex-boyfriend, Whitus, and a female companion.
It appeared the Whitus was upset because the woman had obtained a restraining order against him, deputies said.
According to authorities, the woman shot both of the suspects after they attacked her.
Whitus and the woman were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
It's unclear whether Whitus' companion has been released from the hospital or has been charged in the case.
