When deputies arrived, they found the man floating on his back in the water, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said. He was unresponsive as they tried to communicate with him.

Herrin said the deputies pulled him close to a boat and paramedics pulled him from the water.

The man was taken to Mariner's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Patrons at the bar told deputies that the man had been there eating and drinking a few hours earlier.

Detectives have not released the man's name pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
