Man dies after losing control of motorcycle in Pompano Beach

Deputies say man died after hitting curb, pole, street sign, street light

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Deputies say a man has died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a concrete pole.

The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at East Copans Road and Northeast 5th Avenue in Pompano Beach.

Broward Sheriff's Office traffic homicide detectives said that 38-year-old Robert Wayne Turner of Margate was driving eastbound on Copans Road.

Detectives said Turner rode his 2000 Suzuki Intruder motorcycle at a normal rate of speed.

For unknown reasons, deputies said Turner lost control and hit a curb. After hitting the curb, he hit the pole, a street sign and a street light.

Deputies said Turner was pronounced dead at the scene. The traffic homicide investigation is ongoing.
