Man dies during diving trip off Pompano Beach

Paramedics meet charter boat at Hillsboro Inlet Fishing Center

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was on a diving trip off Pompano Beach.

BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said the man, believed to be in his 60s, was part of a diving charter when he resurfaced unconscious about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Paramedics met the Sea Dog Diver charter boat at the Hillsboro Inlet Fishing Center and performed CPR on the man before taking him to North Broward Medical Center.

Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King said paramedics were told the dive master found the man unresponsive at the bottom of the ocean and brought him to the surface.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the man's cause of death.
