Police said Cireus was able to push her sister to shallow water, but got pulled back out by strong currents.

Police said Cireus began going under water while screaming for help.

Javier Fernandez, who was eating dinner with his family at the Beach Bar on the pier, jumped into the water and rescued Cireus from the strong current, police said.

"If it was not for that guy (Fernandez), I would have died," Cireus told police who interviewed her at Aventura Hospital.

Police said Cireus and Fernandez do not know each other.
