Man flees after trying to rob bank, convenience store in Miami

Miami police say man's attempts happened within hour

MIAMI – Miami police are searching for a man wanted for trying to rob a convenience store and a bank within the same hour Monday.

Police released photos of the man Wednesday morning from surveillance cameras at a 7-Eleven store at 100 Biscayne Boulevard. According to police, he handed a cashier a note that read "give me the money or die."

The clerk left the counter to get her manager and the man tried to pay for the items with a credit card that was declined. He left the store before police arrived.

After seeing the surveillance, Miami police determined he was the same man who attempted to rob a bank robbery at Chase Bank branch at 2001 Biscayne Boulevard about an hour earlier.

Miami police describe the man as about 5 feet 6 inches tall with short dreadlocks in a ponytail, a mustache and a goatee. They said he appears to be between 30-35 years old and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts, black sneakers and sunglasses.
