Man found dead in Pembroke Pines home identified as corrections corporal

Death of Daveon Hall, 40, investigated as homicide

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A man who was found dead inside a Pembroke Pines home on Friday has been identified as Daveon Hall, 40, a Miami-Dade County corrections corporal.

Pembroke Pines police were called to the 1000 block of Southwest 122nd Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. Friday. Loved ones said Hall didn't show up to work at the pre-trial detention center in Miami, so his supervisors called his mother who rushed over to his apartment.

Officers said Hall was found dead in the living room of his home.

Police didn't say how Hall died, but the death is classified as a homicide.

"To know that this happened to him -- he lost his life in this manner -- it's really puzzling and confusing and it's not a feeling that I would wish on anybody," Hall's best friend Ricky Bannerman said.

Hall had worked for the Miami-Dade Corrections Department since 2000.

"Anyone that came across Daveon, he touched in a positive manner," Bannerman said.

The Arium Resort near Pembroke Road and Flamingo Road is a gated complex that has been the scene of two other homicides in the past five months. One of the homicides involved a man who was shot dead by a resident during a home invasion.

Anyone with information about Hall's death is asked to call the Pembroke Pines Police Department at 954-431-2200, email tips@ppines.com or call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
