"He's stuck on the balcony. The whole house is on fire," a 911 caller told a dispatcher. "He can't go back into the apartment because it's probably engulfed in flames. They're trying to put water on it with a hose, but it's not enough. You got police officers on the scene."

Miami firefighters responded to the apartment building as smoke was coming out of the sliding glass door leading to the balcony.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the man. He was then placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

The man was wearing an oxygen mask due to smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
