Service between airport, Fort Lauderdale stations suspended after crash

DANIA BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man is dead after being hit by a Tri-Rail train Tuesday morning in Dania Beach.

According to Broward Sheriff's Office deputies, the man was walking north on the tracks about 6 a.m. between Griffin Road and State Road 84 when he was hit.

It's unclear why he was in the area, but deputies said he may have had some sort of visual impairment which could have caused him to become disoriented.

Train service was suspended for several hours between the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport station and the Fort Lauderdale station after the crash.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
