MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was taken to a hospital after a police-involved shooting in northwest Miami-Dade County.
Miami-Dade police were called to 18120 NW 51st Place late Friday afternoon.
The call initially came out as a barricaded suspect, but police later said it was a police-involved shooting.
Sky 10 arrived above the scene as a man was being placed on a stretcher and driven away in an ambulance. He was then driven to a grass field and placed in a medical helicopter bound for Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Blood could be seen on the pavement near where the man was shot.
A neighbor told Local 10 the man came outside with a gun and "the police just started shooting him."
She said the father jumped out of a car screaming, "Why are you shooting him?" She said police then jumped on the father and put him in handcuffs.
Police said no officers were injured.
