Man injured after crashing car on Turnpike following traffic stop

FHP: Suspect took off, crashed on Florida's Turnpike in Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A man was taken to a hospital after crashing a car on Florida's Turnpike near Commercial Boulevard Wednesday morning.

A Florida Highway Patrol representative told Local 10 News that a trooper pulled the man over and discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest. The trooper said the driver took off, and crashed into a wall less than a quarter of a mile away.

Sky 10 was above the scene about 11:15 a.m. as the driver was being placed on a stretcher and taken away by Lauderhill Fire Rescue.

A gray Infiniti was seen with its front bumper smashed off and its back bumper barely hanging on.

Firefighters said the driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. Authorities have not disclosed details regarding the arrest warrant.
