Man dies after Deerfield Beach shooting; gunman at large

BSO continues to search for gunman who fled in light-colored car

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man has died after being shot near his Deerfield Beach home Wednesday night, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Joseph Fernando Medina-Herrera, 21, died at Broward Health North shortly before 11:30 p.m., BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.

Carter said Medina-Herrera was shot after having a "disagreement" with the gunman near Northeast 44th Court and Northeast Third Avenue about 10:15 p.m.

She said Herrera was shot in the torso just steps from his home.

Deputies are still searching for the shooter, who is believed to have fled the scene in a light-colored car.
