Man receives criminal citation after lynx escapes for second time

Siberian lynx found in neighbor's yard 2 days later

SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. – A Southwest Ranches man received a criminal citation from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after his pet lynx escaped for the second time in just three months, officials said.

The 70-pound male Siberian lynx, Sasha, was reported missing Sept. 19 and was found two days later in a neighbor's yard.

FWC officials said it was the second time that Sasha has escaped from his enclosure within a three-month period.

Sasha first escaped on June 18 and his owner, Perry Burk, was issued a warning.

FWC investigators said Burk was instructed to add a locking mechanism to the lynx's room door to prevent future escapes.
