MIAMI -

A man who last lived in South Florida 15 years ago returned for the Miami Heat's championship parade Monday.

"I've come here from Washington, D.C., but I'm originally from Miami," said Freddie Singson. "I'm a true fan. I've loved the Miami Heat ever since I was born in the 80s and 90s. I've been a fan. I like the message that the players on and off the court provide to all the fans out there. They're good role models."

While Singson took in the parade from the street, his family watched from a fifth floor suite at the Hyatt Regency.

It wasn't easy getting that room, but Singson said it was more difficult convincing his family to leave Disney World sooner than they planned.

"Most of the negotiations was with my wife and kids to detour our vacation a little bit," he said.
