Surveillance video shows man walk past counter, run out of Maniacs Hobby

PLANTATION, Fla. ā€“ Police are trying to identify a man who was caught on camera running out of a Plantation store last month without paying for a remote control car.

The theft was reported May 22 at Maniacs Hobby on Peters Road.

Surveillance video released Tuesday shows a man carrying the remote control car in its box. He appears to be walking to the checkout counter, but he walks by the cashier and runs out of the store.

Plantation police said the man got into a blue or silver Ford Focus that was backed into a handicapped parking spot near the front door.

The toy car was valued at almost $450.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call police or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
