Man shot, killed in Sunrise parking lot

Investigators searching for SUV that might be connected to shooting

SUNRISE, Fla. – A man was found shot to death Monday night in a Sunrise parking lot.

Sunrise police identified the victim as Baijnauth Ramsaroop, 38.

Police said the body was found in a parking lot on the corner of Sunset Strip and North University Drive. A handgun was found near the body, but police said it was not the gun used in the shooting.

Investigators are searching for a dark midsize SUV that might have been connected to the shooting.

Later in the afternoon, a large police presence was spotted near the scene as police stopped a vehicle that matched the SUV's description.

Police said the driver fled from an officer who tried to stop it. After further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was not related to the shooting.

Ramsaroop, who police said suffered a single gunshot wound, leaves behind two children.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-496-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
