Man shot to death on footbridge in El Portal

Police searching for shooter

EL PORTAL, Fla. ā€“ Police are searching for a shooter after a body was found on a footbridge Monday in El Portal.

The victim has been identified as Lorenzo Mosie, 19.

Neighbors told Local 10 News they heard about three gunshots shortly after 5 p.m.

When police arrived, they found Mosie dead on the Northeast Second Avenue footbridge.

Police said Mosie was shot to death, but a shooter or motive weren't immediately known.

Sky 10 was above the scene as the body was covered by a yellow tarp.

The pedestrian bridge crosses a canal that residents said separates the good side of town from the bad. The bridge is usually locked and closed to foot traffic at a certain time each day, and it's possible Mosie may not have realized he couldn't get through, allowing the shooter to corner him.
