Man steals 3 guns from vehicle in Brickell, police say

Robert Patterson has previous burglary convictions

MIAMI ā€“ Miami police have arrested a man they believe stole three guns from a parked car in Brickell earlier this month.

Police said they received a call Tuesday from a man who claimed that Robert Patterson had taken rifles from a car at a high-rise condominium inĀ Brickell.

Patterson, 30, refused to speak to officers when they went to interview him at Metro West Detention Center, police said.

The victim told police that he'd put two Smith & Wesson M&P Sport AR-15 rifles and a black Ruger 1911, totaling $2,850 in value, inside a black bag in the trunk of his car at about 1:30 p.m. June 12.

When the victim returned to his vehicle at about 3 a.m. the next day, the items were missing.

Patterson was arrested on charges of burglary of an occupied conveyance, three counts of grand theft and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He has previously been convicted of burglary and was on probation for battery at the time of the burglary in Brickell, police said.
