Man steals $8,000 engagement ring from Hialeah jewelry store

Fingerprints lead police to suspect in Zales theft

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah man was arrested after snatching a pricey ring from a jewelry store, police said.

Alex Guerra, 25, was arrested Wednesday on a grand theft charge.

Hialeah police said he snatched an $8,000 engagement ring from a sales associate at a Zales store at the Westland mall.

Police said Guerra was pretending to be a customer when he ran out of the store with the ring.

Fingerprints collected at the scene led police to Guerra.

Police said he was cooperating in the return of the ring.
