MIAMI – A man who was trapped on his apartment balcony by a fire has died.
Cesar Martinez, 75, suffered burns to his back after a fire swept through his second-story apartment at 406 NW 22nd St. last month.
A 12-year-old boy used a garden hose to try and keep the fire away until firefighters arrived at the scene.
According to the family, Martinez died Sunday at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Martinez's family has created a GoFundMe account to raise money for his funeral in the Dominican Republic.
