POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives believe a man -- shown in a sketch -- attempted to kidnap a teenager minutes before she sprinted past a day care Wednesday on Northeast Sixth Street in Pompano Beach.
Surveillance video shows the 13-year-old girl running while carrying her book bag.
BSO spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said the girl was on the sidewalk when a man in a tan SUV pulled up next to her. He asked her if she was walking home. She ignored him and continued walking, so he stopped and got out of the SUV.
The girl said he grabbed her by the waist and tried pulling her inside. She pushed back and screamed, and as seen in the video, she ran away.
