Man tying his shoelace uses cellphone to record up woman's dress in Coral Gables

Pollo Tropical employee says he saw man behind her doing something with phone

CORAL GABLES, Fla. ā€“ A man who pretended to be tying his shoe was actually using his cellphone to record up a woman's dress at a Coral Gables restaurant, police said.

The 35-year-old woman said she was ordering dinner Wednesday night at a Pollo Tropical on Douglas Road when an employee told her that a man standing behind her in line might have been recording under her dress.

According to a Coral Gables police report, the employee told her that he saw the man bend down, place his phone on the floor near her and tie one of his shoes. After tying his shoe, the man stood up and "was doing something with his phone."

About a minute later, the man bent down again to tie his shoelace and placed his phone on the floor directly behind the woman, facing "underneath her dress." He then grabbed his phone, stood up and walked out of the restaurant.

"What he's doing is not right," the woman, who asked not to be identified, told Local 10 News. "He's, you know, violating women."

The man was last seen crossing Southwest 37th Avenue toward Miami. He is described as being between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with short dark hair.
