Boy, 5, witnesses mother's shooting

Police say Hector Garcia shot estranged wife, boyfriend

MIAMI – A 5-year-old boy saw his mother's estranged husband shoot her Monday night, police said.

Hector Garcia, 59, faces two counts of attempted murder after police said he forced his way inside his estranged wife's northwest Miami-Dade County home and shot Jenatte Montejo.

Police said Garcia then left the home and shot Montejo's boyfriend, Abraham Rodriguez.

Both victims were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Montejo was listed in stable condition, while Rodriguez remained in critical condition Tuesday morning.

Hector Garcia is accused of shooting his estranged wife and her boyfriend.

Police said Montejo's son, Mike Garcia, witnessed the shooting.

"My mom was bleeding, bleeding a lot," the boy told Local 10.

Police later arrested Hector Garcia in Miami.

Mike Garcia was placed in the care of relatives.
