PEBMROKE PARK, Fla. - Happy Mother's Day! How are you planning to share your well wishes?
A Facebook poll found that 13% of users plan to wish their moms a Happy Mother's Day through the site. 66% of 1,200 users surveyed said they would be with their moms in person, while 34% say they will call.
A third of users between the ages of 13 and 18 are already "friends" with their moms on Facebook. Most friend requests in this age group are initiated 13-year-olds. Adults in their early to mid-20s are least likely to initiate friendship requests.
According to a Skype survey, there was a 35% increase in Mother's Day calls last year compared to an average Sunday. 17% of respondents admit to cleaning up their rooms before a Skype session.
On average, the Skype survey found that 43% of men and women communicate with their moms at least once a day. However, women are more likely to connect via phone, email, instant messaging and social networks.
Nearly 1 in 10 of those surveyed use video chats to introduce a love interest. 1 in 5 have used Skype to announce big news, like an engagement.
