Mardi Gras Casino presents 26th annual Toys in the Sun Run

30,000 bikers expected to hit the streets to raise money for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – 30,000 bikers and thousands of others were expected to hit the streets for the annual South Florida President's Council (SFPC) Toys in the Sun Run, benefiting the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation.

The motorcycle parade began at 9:30 a.m. at the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach and ends with a party at Markham Park in Weston.

Lead singer of Poison, Bret Michaels, is scheduled to perform throughout the day and there will also be a classic car and bike show. Attendees will also be able to enjoy food and beverages from more than 100 vendors.

Admission is $10 per person, plus one new, unwrapped toy or gift. Admission is $20 for those who do not bring a toy or gift. Event organizers ask that attendees do not bring stuffed animals due to potential allergies for children.

For those who will be attending the event or hitting the roads in the area, be aware that beginning at 9 a.m. there will be road closures from Southwest 136th Avenue to Pembroke Road on both I-595 and I-95.

Since starting the fundraiser 26 years ago, coordinator, Joey Quinter says they have raised over $20 million dollars in toys and $8 million in money.
