MIAMI – The Sporting News on Monday named Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez as its National League Rookie of the Year.
The 21-year-old beat out Los Angeles' Yasiel Puig. Fernandez finished with 12 wins, 187 strikeouts, and was second in the NL with a 2.19 earned-run average.
