Masked robbers hit Radio Shack

Employee says suspects forced customers, staff to back room

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Three masked men robbed a Radio Shack store in Pompano Beach Sunday, according to authorities.

The store is located at 167 South Pompano Parkway.

At the time of the robbery, six customers and two employees were inside the store, the Broward Sheriff's Office said. A Radio Shack employee told Local 10 the suspects' guns were drawn and the group of eight was forced into the back room.

The suspects were wearing ski masks to hide their faces, the BSO said. According to investigators, the men stole phones, most of which were iPhones. Authorities said the men knew the phones were stored in the back and demanded an employee give them access to the area.

The same store was targeted in August by three men who stole about $20,000 worth of cell phone equipment. Investigators have not indicated whether the robberies are connected.

Investigators said they have no leads, but have collected surveillance footage from inside the store.

Stay tuned to Local 10 for more details as they emerge.
