Masked thieves tie up employees, rob jewelry store in Hialeah

Robbery reported at Ariel's Jewelry Thursday morning

HIALEAH, Fla. – Police are searching for three people who ambushed two women while they were working at Ariel's Jewelry store in Hialeah Thursday morning.

The robbery was reported about 9 a.m. at 2474 W. 60th St.

Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby said the masked thieves broke into the business by breaking through the dry-wall partition of a travel agency that is located next door.

Zogby said a woman who works at the travel agency was assaulted by the robbers as she was walking into the store as the robbery was in progress.

Zogby said the robbers tied up the victims, but they were otherwise uninjured.

The thieves left the store with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Zogby said detectives are checking up on several "solid leads."
