Massive fire takes over apartment building in Detroit

At least 3 people hurt, including victim who had to jump to safety

DETROIT – Dozens of people were rescued, and even some jumped to safety, early Wednesday morning on Detroit's west side when a massive fire broke out in an apartment building.

Fire overtook the Jason Manor apartment building, which is near Schoolcraft and Outer Drive.

Fire officials on the scene said four people were taken to the hospital.

Many of the evacuated residents were being kept on buses to stay warm, most were in their pajamas and didn't have shoes.

Detroit police had been at the same building just a couple of hours before the fire started to investigate a criminal sex case, according to Local 10's news partners at Local 4 in Detroit.
