PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -

A memorial service was held Wednesday for a school nurse who police say was killed by her ex-husband.

Family and friends of 49-year-old Kimberly Lindsey gathered at the Christ Fellowship Gardens South Campus to remember her.

"My mom was indescribable," said her daughter, Sarah Lambert. "My mom had more love in her than I ever believed was humanly possible."

Her daughters, friends, and students described her as self made and kind.

"She was everything that a superhero would be," said Rileigh Hanley.

"She was classy, sassy, and a little kick-assy," added Wendy Zoberman.

"She's a very strong lady," said Laura Hanley. "She's definitely not a victim."

Police began searching for Lindsey when she never showed up to Bak Middle School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, where she worked as a nurse. Investigators say her ex-husband, Albert Lambert, shot her, decapitated her, and dumped her body in a sugarcane field near Clewiston.

As deputies waited to arrest Lambert at a home in Miami where he was staying with family, he overdosed, police say.

"If there is anything positive to come from this senseless, senseless tragedy -- let's all strive to be the Kim in somebody's life," said Zoberman.
