WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Two South Florida men accused of killing and cooking a rooster are likely working as grooms in Miami-Dade County, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Felony arrest warrants have been issued for Desiderio de Jesus Orantes and Jose Herrera stemming from an incident that occurred last year.

Orantes and Herrera were seen chasing and kicking a pet rooster from barn to barn at Gulfstream Park's Palm Meadows training facility near Boynton Beach on Christmas Day, PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in a news release.
The rooster, in an attempt to get away, began to jump and fly around when Herrera grabbed a pitch fork and stabbed the bird, Barbera said. The men then cut the head and legs off the rooster, plucked the bird's feathers and are believed to have cooked the bird in their dormitory on campus, Barbera said.
Both suspects left their housing at Palm Meadows and haven't been seen or heard from since, Barbera said.
Orantes and Herrera are licensed grooms and are most likely working as grooms elsewhere in the state, possibly Miami-Dade County, Barbera said.
They face charges of felony animal cruelty.
