Miami City Hall evacuated due to strong odor from roofing work

MIAMI – Miami City Hall was evacuated Friday afternoon because of reports of a strong odor throughout the building while roofing work was being done, authorities said.

Miami Fire Rescue officials said they were called at about 3:30 p.m. to Miami City Hall at 3500 Pan American Drive.

Officials said the smell from the glue and chemicals got into the air conditioning and spread throughout the building.

Employees were sent home for the day, but the roof work is continuing. 

A Miami Fire Rescue unit will remain at the scene while the workers are on the roof as a precaution, officials said.
