Miami Dade College's Kendall campus given all-clear after bomb threat

Classes will resume Wednesday

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police gave the Kendall campus of Miami Dade College the all-clear Tuesday night after the campus was evacuated for hours because of a bomb threat.

Students were alerted of the threat through text messages, emails and phone calls.

The alerts told those on campus to prepare for an evacuation and to listen to college officials or local authorities for instructions.

Police dogs searched the area for bombs and suspicious packages.

"In an abundance of caution, we are canceling classes at MDC's Kendall Campus this evening due to the bomb threat so that authorities can sweep the campus," Miami Dade College spokeswoman Hessy Fernandez in an e-mail. "Classes will resume in the morning."

The threat turned out to be a hoax and the campus received an all-clear from authorities.
