Horse appeared to be OK

REDLAND, Fla. ā€“ Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials helped free a horse that was trapped in a ditch Tuesday morning in Redland.

Sky 10 was above the area of Southwest 168th Street and 199th Avenue about 10:30 a.m. as crews worked to free the horse from the ditch that was about 4 feet deep.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said Animal Rescue was called to assist in the rescue.

The horse was pulled from the ditch shortly before 10:45 a.m.

The street was closed to traffic for about an hour until the horse was pulled to safety.

It's unclear how the horse ended up in the ditch, but a lot of brush covered the ditch, making it hard to see.

The horse appeared to be OK as it was lifted onto the side of the road.

The horse was presumably returned to its owner, who was believed to be seen walking it up 199th Avenue to La Fe Nursery.
