Miami-Dade police discover third underground marijuana lab

Police say hidden entrance located in master bedroom

HIALEAH, Fla. – For the third time in 24 hours, an underground marijuana laboratory was discovered in Miami-Dade County late Tuesday night.

Miami-Dade police said 100 pounds of marijuana was seized from the home at 583 SE First St. in Hialeah.

Police said the entrance to the fully operational marijuana lab was located inside the master bedroom, underneath a nightstand and carpeting. The lab stretched the length of the backyard's concrete patio.

"They have hidden entrances in different bedrooms," Detective Roy Rutland said. "In this particular house, the hidden entrance is in the master bedroom."

Two people were also arrested.

The hidden marijuana lab was the third found in Miami-Dade County this week.

An underground marijuana lab was also found under a baby crib and in a swimming pool.

A west Boca Raton neighborhood was also evacuated Tuesday morning after an explosion at what deputies called a marijuana grow house.
