MIAMI-DADE, Fla. – Miami-Dade Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho was honored Thursday evening at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. at the Hispanic Heritage Awards ceremony.
The district said Carvalho was recognized with the Education Award for his academic achievements in one of the largest Hispanic-serving districts in the country.

Carvalho was also recognized for his stance on Dreamers, undocumented students who live in this country, according to the district.
