Miami Gardens woman gives birth to triplets

Mom calls girls born at Memorial Hospital West 'a miracle' after 13 years of trying for kids

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā€“ A Miami Gardens mother who gave birth to triplets on Friday the 13th was released from the hospital Monday.

Diana Bustos gave birth to daughters Dalliyah, Dalyssa and Dianni at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines.

It was a surprise for Bustos and her husband, who have been using infertility treatments for 13 years.

"I can't believe it," Bustos told Local 10's Jacey Birch. "It's a miracle for us."

Bustos said she had almost given up on trying.

"When I turned 35, I was like, let's just try it one more time and see if it happens," Bustos said. "If it doesn't then we know we did our best and we're just going to move on with our lives. And it worked."

Bustos carried the girls to full term -- for 36 weeks -- skipping the neonatal intensive care unit altogether.

"The NICU was ready for them and then you heard, 'No, straight to the nursery,'" Bustos said. "I was like, 'what?' I couldn't believe it."

While most would find triplets overwhelming for a first-time mother, that's not the case for Bustos.

"Honestly, I want to try for a boy," she said. "I've just got to see how I'm going to manage."
